From a young age, I loved music and when I was about 7 I took formal training in Indian classical songs for a couple of years. When I was about 10, my father introduced me to karaoke singing. I sang a duet song with him for a local community event, I continued to be very involved in that group and still sing at its events from time to time.
As my interest for music grew, I started playing the violin in school. Although I did not continue with playing violin in the years forward, it helped spark my interest for musical instruments. I have a keyboard at home and I taught myself to play songs on it. When I was 12, I took formal piano lessons from a music teacher outside of school and learned all the basics of playing a piano. After the classes ended, I continued to practice and teach myself. When I reached high school, I took a course on piano in order to learn more of the technical aspects and am still very involved in playing the keyboard.
In high school I also took a guitar course and in the process just as I did with piano, learned the basics and technical aspects of the instrument at school and then went home and used my father’s old guitar to teach myself how to play a guitar. I continue to play my keyboard and guitar, and continue to perform at some of the the local community events. I hope to continue learning more about music and the musical instruments that I love.
