I am currently (in 2020) a senior at Avon High School. I started my elementary schooling in East Farms, Farmington, CT before my parents moved to the neighboring town of Avon, CT. I had the opportunity to start middle school in a magnet school AAE, and I finished my middle school in Avon Middle School, from where I continued on and to Avon High School. Read More... In high school the subjects that interest me most are Science and Arts. For my college and prefessional life I would like to pursue psychiatry and am working hard towards that goal.

Dance & Me

At a very young age, dance forms like ballet and tap dancing interested me. At the age of 5, I started formally learning Bharatanatyam, a classical dance and art form that originated in South India. Read More... It became the dance form that followed me throughout my childhood. As I pursued my Bharatanatyam training, I also started performing semi-classical and folk dances for local community events & non-profit organizations in CT. Since I was 10, I became a regular participant in most classical dance performances in CT. I was very fortunate to receive guidance and coaching from renowned veteran dancers such as Dr. Suryanarayana Murthy, Ms. Vasantha from Kalamandalam, and Ms. Nirmila John.

Social Cause

Since I started High School, I have been supporting the American School For The Deaf one of the few all deaf schools in America that spearheads the initiative to provide adequate learning opportunity for the deaf community (click here to learn more).

Passion For Other Art Forms

Age 8 was a transformative year for me. While sketching some historical personalities for a school assignment I discovered my passion for sketching and painting. Henna painting and face painting skills soon found me volunteering at birthday parties and local fairs. Read More... My parents have been a great influence on me in exploring a range of artistic talents. My mother is a school teacher and I frequently make props for the plays that she orchestrates. My father introduced me to the world of music. From karaoke singing to formal Indian classical (Carnatic) music lessons music and guitar are now a part of me. Since the age 8 , I have been performing solo and duets on stage at local community events and that has been a huge confidence booster. As I entered my high school, I expanded my interests to sculpting, playing the piano and the acoustic guitar. I strive to achieve a balance between academics and my artistic interests.
